Is It Strange That FEMA Wants to Buy 140 Million Packaged Meals

with a Shelf Life of Only 36 Months for a Specific Disaster Scenario?

They sure seem convinced there will be a big disaster here soon. How much do you think 140 million MRE’s will cost?

Spotted by cryptogon January 23rd, 2011:

I’m sure that there are plenty of reasons why this isn’t weird, but I’ll just make a note of it in case Coincidence strikes.

Via: Federal Business Opportunities:

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) procures and stores pre-packaged commercial meals to support readiness capability for immediate distribution to disaster survivors routinely. The purpose of this Request for Information is to identify sources of supply for meals in support of disaster relief efforts based on a catastrophic disaster event within the New Madrid Fault System for a survivor population of 7M to be utilized for the sustainment of life during a 10-day period of operations. FEMA is considering the following specifications (14M meals per day):

- Serving Size – 12 ounce (entree not to exceed 480 calorie count);
- Maximum calories – 1200 and/or 1165 per meal;
- Protein parameters – 29g-37g kit;
- Trans Fat – 0;
- Saturated Fat – 13 grams (9 calories per gram);
- Total Fat – 47 grams (less than 10% calories);
- Maximum sodium – 800-930 mg;

Requested Menus to include snacks (i.e. fruit mix, candy, chocolate/peanut butter squeezers, drink mix, condiments, and utensils). All meals/kits must have 36 months of remaining shelf life upon delivery. Packaging should be environmentally friendly.

Now the government wants @ 1.3 Million gallons of fuel in addition to the 14M Blankets, Meals, and Body bags in adjacent states:

The Government has a presolicitation notice out for 24-thousand gallons of gasoline and 135,000 gallons of diesel in each state for NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TX, and LA. That’s 1.272 million gallons they’re looking for. Vendors will be required to maintain readiness capability and deliver within 24 hours notice and provide mobile refueling in the event of a disaster to and within a 300 mile radius of mobilization areas.

    • I just went to http://www.FBO.Gov and it is for real. It is a government site that was created for such scenarios as a gas shortage to where vendors can be notified. It is for real and something is coming. Go to http://www.fbo.gov. It was on the news as well on Fox and MSNBC on Tuesday. They said to read the page there and would not believe your eyes but I did not go and read it because how many times do you hear that from some news network just to get you to go read it but it is 100% real. Get ready whoever reads this for coming trouble because Obama and Fema is as well as the governors and they are not telling us when it is coming, only after it is here will they tell us and by then we may be getting rounded up or under emergency Marshall law. Hope they are just worrying to much, FEMA that is but I never knew them to worry before so this must be pretty bad what is coming.

    • It does not matter where it was posted here. I went straight to the governments website and it says it all there. Just because it is linked here on a blog does not mean it is not real. I will bet $10,000 with anyone prooving this story is true and it is only a 10th of what is there at the fbo.gov site. It is scary what Fema is talking about doing just in the last week. They are all current memos and posts. fbo.gov is owned and operated by homeland security so if you think it is fame then your an idiot and you will find out very soon this is happening. Don’t be stupid and get caught with your pants down when the SHTF senario starts.

      • Guys, I’m no fan of the Federal Mafia. I’m the one who said DHS was not created to protect Americans from terrorists, but to protect the terrorists (US Govt.) from Americans. However, if you compare this lineup of states to a U.S. map, and check your calender, you can easily deduce that the MREs and fuel is for hurrican season, which incidently starts in 90 days. you leave yourself open to conspiracy kook status when you miss this, when you have real corruption and tyranny taking place. Since the gov. uses dissinformation to marginalize truth and discredit it’s spokesmen, I am persuaded that this is either releasing info that anyone can put together as some newsflash, to color patriots as “dim bulbs” or just a patriot who IS a “dim bulb.” Sorry, I call it the way I see it.

        • Your suggestion might be reasonable, or this procurement might be major over-supply especially for perishable items.

          I’m not suggesting anything at all by presenting this info – I’m only adding it to my collection of interesting (and iffy) facts to have on hand if the time comes to connect the dots later.

          The MSM and the powers-that-be are all engaged in perception management, of that I am sure. I prefer to examine things and form my own conclusions when possible.

      • I am in Arkansas and we have the Madrid fault line through our state big time. Why was our state not mentioned? Are Arkansans not important? I should say we are just important. We are prepers and will be ready for anything coming our way. How about you? Got alternative medicine, food, shelter, water, etc. You better get some. something is brewing and do you really want to take the chance of your family starving, sick or can’t defend your self against others intruding? Better safe than sorry.
